About Mary
Mary Chirinos was born in Valencia, Venezuela, and showed an inclination toward art from an early age. She entered the Cristóbal Rojas School of Art in Caracas, where she worked in sculpture and painting across many materials.
In 1989 she immigrated to the United States to pursue an education in art and design, and received her Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts and Architectural Design from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 1993.
She currently lives in Miami, Florida, where she works as an independent artist and is an active member of the women’s art collective W-10.
Artist Statement
My work focuses on the harmonic structure of the universe and its relationship with the evolution of humankind. Experimenting with images and the principles of Sacred Geometry, I seek mystical and metaphysical paths — trying to capture contemplation and meditation on the energy of cosmic space, to open mystical channels and to explore the spiritual world where philosophy and divinity merge; where the mind and the soul are seduced between “the sacred and the profane.”
On W-10
Being part of a group like W-10 is an honor. With them I learned the fine art of artistic exchange; our gatherings are rich in human content. Every meeting is a world where each of us brings the best of who we are, in fellowship and love. It makes me feel like a woman who leaves an impression through her art.
